Can Chain Pully Block Be Used for Diagonal Pulling?

Chain Pully Block are widely applied in many scenarios, such as factory equipment maintenance and installation, construction sites, mines, docks, shipyards, warehousing and logistics. However, they must lift loads vertically during operation. Diagonal pulling is strictly prohibited. Hebei Shengyu Lifting Machinery Manufacturer gives a detailed explanation as follows:

Diagonal pulling with Chain Pully Block is strictly forbidden. The diagonal‑pull operation shown in the picture is a violation of safety regulations. Diagonal pulling will shift the lifting chain away from the sprocket center, which may easily cause chain disengagement, twisting or jamming, and even chain fracture. Meanwhile, diagonal force increases the actual load, exceeding the rated lifting capacity of the hoist. The hook is also prone to slipping off. The load may swing, tip over or fall. Rebounding chains may also strike nearby personnel and result in safety accidents.

When operating a chain hoist, the upper hook, lifting chain and load must be kept on the same plumb vertical line. Lifting shall be vertical. Diagonal pulling, slanting dragging and horizontal pulling of loads are not allowed. Inspect the integrity of chains and hooks before work, and strictly follow lifting safety specifications.
